Real File Viewer

Frequently asked questions

General questions about Real File Viewer. Each format also has its own FAQ.

Is my data safe?

Yes. Every file format on this site is decoded and rendered entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly and JavaScript — nothing is ever uploaded to a server. You can confirm this yourself by watching your browser's Network tab while opening a file.

What file formats are supported?

PDF, Word (DOCX), Excel (XLSX/XLS), PowerPoint (PPTX), images and HEIC/HEIF photos, CSV, JSON, source code (100+ languages), ZIP/CBZ archives, audio, video, EPUB eBooks, and CAD/3D formats (STL, STEP/STP, DXF, DWG).

Is there a file size limit?

There's no hard limit we enforce. The only real ceiling is your device's available memory for very large files.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no sign-up, no login, and no email required for any viewer on this site.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Install Real File Viewer as an app (PWA) from your browser, and every viewer keeps working without an internet connection.

Is Real File Viewer really free?

Yes, every viewer is free with no paywall or gated features. The site is supported by ads, never by charging for viewing your own files.

Can I edit files here?

This is a viewing tool, not an editor. Formatting, layout, and content are shown as-is; use your normal application to make changes.

Why does my browser's Network tab matter for privacy?

It's the simplest way to verify our privacy claim yourself: open it before loading a file, and you'll see no request is ever made carrying your file's data.

Do you store or log anything about my files?

No. There is no server-side component that receives file contents, so there's nothing to store or log in the first place.

Which browsers are supported?

Any modern browser with WebAssembly support — current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari all work.
