What this viewer does

  • Sender, recipient, and subject shown clearly
  • Renders rich-text (RTF) message bodies where present
  • Falls back to plain text when no rich body is available
  • Lists and downloads attachments individually
  • No Outlook installation required

How it's rendered

@kenjiuno/msgreader + rtf.js. Decodes Outlook's binary CFBF container format directly; rich-text bodies (compressed RTF) are decompressed and rendered via the same RTF engine used by the RTF viewer.

Nothing about this file is ever sent to a server — open your browser's DevTools Network tab while using this viewer and you'll see no request carrying your file's contents.

100% Private

Files never leave your device. There is no server that ever receives your file's contents.

No Uploads

Every format is decoded and rendered locally via WebAssembly or JavaScript. Open your browser's Network tab and confirm nothing is sent.

No Storage

Nothing is written to a server or database. Memory clears the moment you close or reload the tab.

GDPR-friendly by design

There's no file data collection to comply with in the first place — no account, no tracking of file contents, no analytics on what you view.

MSG viewer — FAQ

Do I need Outlook to open a MSG file?

No — this viewer decodes the file's binary container format directly in your browser.

Can I download attachments from a MSG file?

Yes, each attachment is listed below the message body with its own download button.

Is my message uploaded anywhere?

No, decoding happens entirely client-side.

Will complex formatting look exactly like Outlook?

Most rich-text formatting renders faithfully; some unusual formatting may render as simplified text.

Does it support MSG files with embedded messages?

Basic embedded-message attachments are listed as attachments; deeply nested message threads may not fully unpack.
